DILIGENCE for RAUF ADEBAYO

Tirelessly you work out your lungs like grandfather’s clock

In the consultancy office of the Secretariat

Pepping up my spirit of lethargical clay…

I saw with sadness the toy and melancholia

In your apple eyes of dredged tears

You saw in the poet of elephant might

The genius wasting away in the dregs of oblivious

You pulled up from marshes of listlessness and pareses…

We spoke the past present and future

How much you have made to realise I dwell in the palanquin of pains…

How much I see myself naked like Sisyphus

And must labour out the rocks…

I have put up action and am restless henceforth…

And with the silence gullibly sucked up

The runnelled encampment with the euphoria

Through the marshes of lethargy and listlessness

With utmost thanks from my scalped soul

I share this kudos of heightened love with you…

What a great brother and friend of days…

I say cheers…

I say cheers…
